Sergei Prokofiev´s String Quartet No. 2 in F major Op. 92 unfolds over three contrasting movements with driving energy, melancholic lyricism, and dance-like vitality, culminating in an ecstatic finale. The work is technically demanding and combines formal strictness with folkloric sounds. This edition is a masterful addition to the 20th-century chamber music repertoire, including a preface by Klaus Burmeister, as well as the parts for each instrument.
